As the designer of the visuals and projection for Planetarium, I created an immersive celestial-themed stage production that debuted at the Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles in 2013 and restaging in 2017.

As part of the 2017 album release on 4AD, several of the original visuals were translated into lyric videos, further blending the lyrical and visual narratives. My favorites are “Mercury” — a celestial charcoal exploration of our carrier friend, and “Saturn” — a celestial montage using the extensive Cassini archives and Sufjan’s face in lasers.

“Mercury” premiered on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in 2017.
